“Let the children come to me and do not stop them, because the kingdom of God belongs to such as these.”  Luke 18:16

With the grace of our Lord, the Sunday school activities at St. Paul’s Malayalam Parish has improved with the Rev. P. D. John’s mentoring the teacher’s coaching, parents’ guidance and the collective support of all our parish members. It gives me immense pleasure in presenting you the Sunday school report for the academic year 2014-2015.

The first teachers’ meeting for the academic year under Rev. P. D. John’s guidance was held on 2nd June 2014, where in the following office bearers were elected.

· Mrs. Tinny Sam           - Secretary

We have 15 teachers and 50 students spread between the two centres. The teachers are Mrs. Babykutty Sam, Mrs. Beena Rajiv, Mrs. Lata Johnson, Mrs Tijin Shinu, Mrs. Shiny Sunil, Brother Biju, Ms Jemy Jose, Mrs. Laly Thomas, Mrs. Tinny Sam, Mrs.  Sheena Mathews, Mrs. Reena Aju, Ms Sharon Samuel, Mr.Binu Philip, Mrs. Linu Philip andMs  Michelle Johnson. .

The new session of Sunday school for the academic year 2014-2015 was commenced in  June 2014 with special prayer in the respective areas during the Sunday Service . The syllabus from CEEFI is followed which provide a lot of activity for the child and the teacher. We would also like to thank our UBS students for their assistance in conducting Sunday School sessions whenever required especially Mr.Biju, Mr Jess, Mr Shinu, and Mr Sonu and all others who have graciously helped and facilitated many events including the annual competitions, quiz and singing sessions. Here we need to specially thank Ms Sharon Samuel for her patience and assistance in teaching our kids Christmas Carols.

A typical Sunday school session at our parish includes worship where children also read bible portions, sing songs, followed with a classroom session that allows children to explore the word through lively discussions with their teachers and friends. This year we had included worship in Malayalam which increased the confidence of our children.

The Vijayasthothram was also included in all the worship centres in gratitude to God Almighty for granting each child a successful academic year .In order to enable the Teenagers of our church to effectively handle their problems, a two-hour teenager retreat was held at the old Parsonage on the 17th of August, the guest speaker was Miss Madhu a gold medallist in Psychology.

The Sunday school Sunday was celebrated in Khadki and Pune on 2nd 22nd of November respectively and the worship was led by the students. Sermons were delivered by Mrs. Tijin Shinu in Khadki and Mrs. Linu Philip in Pune. Students also put up choreography, skits and songs.

The students, as a Junior Choir, sang some beautiful carols during the Christmas Carols service in the old Parsonage on December 12. The Young Adults of Sunday School decided to hold a ‘Secret Santa’ and exchanged gifts with each other on the December 29. .

The teachers and students accompanied by the W/F members visited the “Snehalaya” on the 28th of December. The children sang songs for the house inmates, donated provisions and joined the inmates for lunch.

Annual competitions for the students were held on January 26th in events like Solo Singing, Memory Verse (oral and written), Story Telling, Bible Reading, Mono Act, Speech and Quiz. The annual exams were held on Feb 8th and Feb15th in all the centers.

Once again, we thank you all for your continued support and encouragement to the Sunday School.
